Andy has been involved in the social development sector for nearly 30 years. He is currently the managing director of FoodForward SA, which he joined in 2013. FoodForward SA’s core focus relates to the implementation of their FoodBanking model, which involves the recovery of quality edible surplus food from the supply chain to address food insecurity.

Andy led significant innovative change in FoodForward SA when he joined by introducing good governance, operational efficiency, financial stability, and digital technology that allowed the organisation to scale up into all 9 provinces.

Andy holds an Honours Degree in Public Administration and an MPhil in Theology. He previously served as managing director of the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) for 15 years (1994 – 2013), and started his career at the Department of Health (1994 – 1998).

Andy is passionate about making a difference in the NPO sector, and seeks to find innovative and creative ways to improve the lives of vulnerable people and under-served communities. He has written several thought leadership articles which have been published in the Mail and Guardian, Daily Maverick, News24 etc.
